How to create and edit a task
Creating a task is how you tell RemoteGenies exactly what you need done and invite pre-vetted freelancers (Genies) to bid. Editing allows you to make changes before work begins.
Creating a Task
Step-by-step:
- Log in to your RemoteGenies client account.
From your dashboard, click Add Task.
Enter the task title – Make it clear and concise.
Example: “Design a Landing Page in WordPress” instead of “Website Help.”
Write a detailed description – Include:
- Your objectives.
- Specific deliverables.
- Deadlines.
- Required tools, software, or access.
- Choose the expertise and relevant skills from the dropdown menu.
- Set estimated hours – This is how long you want the task to take.
- Select the experience level – Entry, Advanced, or Top-Tier (affects hourly rate).
- Publish your task – It will be visible only to qualified Genies who match your requirements.
Tips for a strong task post:
- Be specific about expectations and deliverables.
- Include examples or references if possible.
- Avoid vague instructions — it leads to mismatched bids.
Editing a Task
You can make edits to your task only before a Genie has been assigned.
To edit:
- Go to your dashboard and click Tasks.
- Select the task you want to edit from the Draft status.
- Click on the task you want to make changes with.
- Update the title, description, hours, category, or skills as needed.
- The task will automatically save any changes made — updates will be reflected immediately to potential bidders.
After a Genie is assigned:
- You can no longer directly edit the task to avoid scope changes without agreement.
- If changes are necessary (e.g., more hours, added deliverables), contact your Project Coordinator, who can adjust the scope and hours after confirming with the Genie.
Why Edits Are Restricted After Assignment
Once a Genie is hired:
- They’ve committed to the agreed scope and hours.
- Changes require approval to ensure fair payment and workload expectations.
- This protects both you and the Genie from misunderstandings or disputes.
